Men Of CTK Learning Event

It is confirmed that we will be having the follow-up event for Men of CTK Kick-Off on July 16th. A room at the Black Lab Pub has been reserved for 7PM where we will be able to get together and listen to our very own Paul Duffin talk about what it means to be a Man that lives a biblicaly based life. This is the first in what I hope will be a series of learning events to strengthen the Men of CTK in the Word of the Lord.

More to come... Just to confirm, it is at 7 PM

Men's Pig Roast

Men's Ministry Overview

The Plight of men today:

  • Often overcommitted and underconnected
  • Often unsure what role we are called to play at home, at work or in the church
  • Vaguely literate biblically
  • Struggling and frequently failing to serve others meaningfully

Our Mission:

  • To equip men to Worship, Know and Serve the King.

Our Vision:

  • To build a community where friendship, learning and service mature to strengthen the church by helping men serve Christ in their family, the church and the world.

Our Plan:

  • Monthly Events beginning in June, with three repeating themes
  • Learning
  • Serving
  • Connecting
  • Fall Men’s Advance

Examples of Issues we hope to address:

Finances- We are largely a society of debtors, scrambling to make our next financed purchase
Marriage and Dating- Relationships are hard and often broken
Parenting- How to lovingly discipline and set right priorities for children
Temptation- We are inundated with opportunities to serve something or someone other than Christ.

Interesting statistics from “No Man Left Behind” by Pat Morley

There are ~108,000,000 men in America. Of those:
  • 61% make no profession of faith - 39% profess faith in Christ
  • In the average American church, there are 3 women for every 2 men
  • 60% of 1st marriages end in divorce
  • 24,000,000 children will go to bed w/out a biological father in the home
  • 50% of children from broken homes have not seen their father in over a year
  • 1/3 of births is to an unwed mother
  • The U.S. leads the world in fatherless families

For every ten men in the church today

  • Nine will have children who leave the church
  • 8 will not find their jobs satisfying
  • 6 will pay the monthly minimum on credit cards
  • 5 will have a major problem with pornography
  • 4 will get divorced
  • All will struggle to balance work and family

When a mother comes to faith in Christ, the rest of her family follows 17 percent of the time. But when a father comes to faith, the rest of the family follows 93 percent of the time.
*Focus on the Family
